Part of a Dylan Odyssey, a series of unique Dylan Thomas-inspired literary tours. See his world through his places, his people and his words.

Mental health looms throughout Dylan’s writing, from the asylum on the hill above his childhood home, to his portrayal of his cousin Idris in ‘The Peaches’, to his soul-searching letters. Join us on a full moon walk from Cricieth beach, via the castle, to Tŷ Newydd Writers’ Centre, with talks and readings by poet, editor and essayist Robert Minhinnick and writer and poetry therapist Victoria Field. Of particular focus will be the treatment of mental health in Dylan’s literature and the relationship between mental health and creativity for Dylan, writers and writing. You have the option to stay overnight at Tŷ Newydd (dependent on availability).

This tour follows the Tŷ Newydd Master Class ‘A Poetry Conversation; responding to the poetry of Dylan Thomas’ in association with Guardian Masterclasses. For more information about this writing course, telephone +44 (0)17 6652 2811.
