Dylan Odyssey -Dylan Thomas’ Laugharne: the Boat, the Pelican and Browns Hotel

May 17, 2014

Part of a Dylan Odyssey, a series of unique Dylan Thomas-inspired literary tours. See his world through his places, his people and his words.

Explore Dylan’s Laugharne on foot and by boat with resident travel journalist Chris Moss and local journalist, author and biographer George Tremlett, from his writing shed and The Boathouse, to Sea View (his home from 1938-1940), the castle and its grounds (where Dylan wrote at this time), and Eros (Dylan and Caitlin’s first marital home). St. Martin’s Church (where he said he could feel evil “oozing out of the walls”) will also feature, via The Pelican (Dylan’s parents’ home), and his grave.

Enjoy a light evening meal at Browns Hotel and a performance of Dylan’s work by actor Guy Masterson, nephew of Richard Burton – you can join us for this alone if you wish. The day ends with boarding a boat at sunset to travel a short distance up the Taf Estuary to view Dylan’s Laugharne from the heron’s eye view.

In partnership with The Dylan Thomas Boathouse, Browns Hotel, Cadw and Carmarthenshire County Council.
